WHY Learn about shoulder pain dyfunction?

Shoulder pain and dysfunction is common. Currently shoulder pain and dysfunction is the 3rd most common musculoskeletal complaint, and the incident is 4.5% - 4.7% of the general population. Shoulder injuries rank among the highest media costs per claim of all work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Thus, it is imperative that Atheletic Trainders, Physical Therapists, and Physicians understand the most recent evidence on the best treatment practices.

Treatment is often rooted in the assumption tht tissue damage is the cause of pain and dysfunction, and that the best way to treat is surgical repair or through anti-inflammatories. However, methods of assessing tissue damage are often inaccurate, and fixing the tissue damage through surgical intervention is often not more effective that proper therapy.

.

Unfortunately, many clinicians hold on to outdated injury mechanisms of shoulder injury, As a result, they are prone to providing ineffective, unnecessary, or harmful treatment approaches. Furthermore, other equally or more effective treatments are ignored or minimized.

This couse will serve to address the gap between what is commonly provided as treatment and what has been shown to be the most effective. This course will review the evidence to support or refute propse mechanism of injury, review the efficacy of various treatment options, then explore the application of proper evidence based treatment for optimal shoulder function and health.

HERE'S WHAT WE'LL TALK ABOUT!

  • Separate the facts from fallacies about what really causes shoulder pain and why this is vital to understand in order to achieve meaningful results.

  • Identify and apply logical exam techniques that are helpful and discard those that are a waste of time, so you can quickly develop effective solutions.

  • Explore the surprising anatomical changes involved with shoulder pain that few clinicians know, and why it matters.

  • Analyze, modify, and properly perform effective non-surgical interventions that you can apply right away to treat patients with shoulder pain.

  • Understand and identify which interventions are appropriate based on the available evidence and understanding of shoulder disorders.

  • Walk away with skills to get patients to stick with effective treatments that achieve meaningful results and actually solve the problem.

AND CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT’S NOT EVEN EVERTHING YOU'LL GET…
